To say that my approach to the drums changed when I heard Clyde Stubblefield with James Brown would be an understatement. Most likely, I Got You (I Feel Good) was the first tune I heard (like many of us). Later, Get Up (Sex Machine) and Cold Sweat found their way to me. However, it was Funky Drummer that did me in. Still, to this day, Clyde Stubblefield’s syncopated groove floors me. It has been said that his drum break has been the most sampled break ever. Amazing!
